Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu exuded confidence that Congress would win hands down and form government in Telangana with a large majority.
“Our party will do exceedingly well in the old districts of Khammam, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad and other districts. Telangana people are in favour of Congress in these elections. We will win hands-down and get more than 75 seats,” Sridhar Babu, who is also the chairman of TPCC Manifesto Committee, told Bizz Buzz. Telangana will go to polls on November 30 to elect its new government.
According to him, Telangana people have lost trust in BRS as it has failed to implement its promises.
On the charge of ‘dozen-Congress-CM-candidates’ in this election, he said Congress MLAs would elect Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader who would become the Chief Minister. “That’s the established process in parliamentary democracy. We will follow it this time too. BRS leaders are indulging in Goebbels propaganda on this. But it will not work,” he said.
Asked about the allegations of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao that the Congress would never implement its promises, the former minister said KCR was misleading people with his baseless allegations as he realised that his party would lose the polls. He pointed out that the Congress promised Telangana State and delivered it.
“People trust Congress as it delivers what it promises. Congress promised Telangana State and delivered it. So, it will deliver six guarantees that it has announced. Our leader Sonia Gandhi who was instrumental in creating Telangana announced the six guarantees. Telangana people have immense faith in Sonia Gandhi’s leadership,” he maintained.
We will effectively implement what we have given in our manifesto, including six guarantees. We are fully aware of how to implement them, he added. He also brushed aside allegations that Congress did not implement its five guarantees in Karnataka. “We have implemented our promises there in Karnataka and we will do so in Telangana as well,” he said.
On free power, he said Congress was the first political party to offer free power to agriculture in this region. “Congress gave free power to agriculture for seven hours when it was in power in undivided Andhra Pradesh. BRS leaders are misquoting the statement of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiva Kumar on power supply to malign Congress,” he pointed.
On the Kaleshwaram project, he said the BRS government wasted Rs 1 lakh crore on the project. “Dam safety authority itself highlighted the poor quality of construction in the Kaleshwaram project because of which pillars got damaged at Medigadda barrage. We will take up Pranahita-Chevella Project after coming to power,” he said
Sridhar Babu, a four-time MLA from Manthani Assembly constituency, said that he would get a huge majority in the elections this time too. “I have blessings of people in my constituency and I am extremely confident that I will get a huge majority this time,” he said. “We will take up Chinna (Small) Kaleshwaram project which will irrigate lands in five mandals of my constituency, and complete it after coming to power,” he said.
